Wine Connoisseur Secrets

!±8± Wine Connoisseur Secrets

Drinking wines can be done for many reasons and on many occasions. There are cheap wines and expensive wines to choose from and of course there are many wines in between, too. Selecting the right one for the right occasion is often more an issue of how much money one can spend on a bottle of wine. This rule has especially proven itself during the recession. People who spent on a bottle of wine are now spending or less per bottle.

While you can find some good wines in the range of course there is no making up in quality compared to a wine at the same time. However, if you know a little bit about wine you probably know that there are options and a few tricks to increase the taste of a cheaper wine. For one, not all wines are of equal quality and you might have to go to a few wine tastings to find some that meet your requirements. Once you have found a good winery that offers decent quality wines you are almost there.

Experienced connoisseurs now grab so-called aerators when enjoying a glass of grapewine - be it for dinner or when just having friends over for drinks. What does a aerator do? Wine aerators enhance the aroma of the expensive grape juice by letting it breath. By letting wines breath the oxygen combines with the flavor of the grape the bottle was made from and intensifies the taste. Why is this making a difference at all? Scientific research has shown that once a bottled wine gets into contact with more oxygen it enriches the bouquet or aroma of the expensive "grape juice" by releasing certain molecules.

Through intensive testing winery experts have discovered that it can often take up to an hour for a wine to have its best aroma after being released from a bottle. You have probably seen all the different types of wine glasses or stemware. Some are deeper or wider than normal glasses - for a reason. Usually stemware for white wine looks completely different compared to stemware for red wines. Champagne again requires a completely different type of drinking glass.

Not everyone has time to wait for an hour to enjoy a glass of Red wine and so companies like Vinturi developed a "wine aerator". A wineaerator is a device that is used to pour the bottled content into a glass. During this process the fluid is enriched with oxygen and what usually takes an hour to take place happens in moments. The wine's aroma changes when being poured through a wine aerator matching what you would otherwise achieve when letting your wine breath for an hour before enjoying it.

Vinturis are not very expensive and you can buy different versions. Some aerators are made for white wine while others are made for reds only. Some wine aerators are also designed to be used with red wine and white wine. Some wine connoisseurs might say using a wine aerator is not the same as letting a wine breath naturally after the bottle is opened, but I think it is really difficult to taste a difference. So, Vinturi aerators are here to stay and really can make a bottle taste much better than you would expect.

Santa Barbara Pinot Noir 2008 Tasting Video (From WineExpress.com)

One of the greatest Pinot values we've seen this year: Heres a new offering from a well established region for great Pinot Noir. Located on the Santa Maria Bench in Santa Barbara County, the North County Vineyards closest neighbor is the Bien Nacido Vineyard. Here at the bend in Californias coastline the cool ocean air plays tug-o-war with the hot southern California sun and the grapes are the beneficiaries. Maturing slowly under the bright sun and cool breezes, growers have learned that the select Dijon clones of Pinot Noir provide the fullest array of flavors and intensity in this blustery landscape. Thats why Dijon 115, 667 and 777 are planted throughout the vineyard. The balance achieved and the rich depth of flavor in this wine begs the question, how can it be priced so affordably? We wont ask that question, well just enjoy this single vineyard Santa Barbara Pinot as often as possible. Dont miss it
